Window tint
Ceramic tint vs dyed tint: compare more than darkness
Compare ceramic and dyed window tint using visible light transmission, solar performance, appearance and the specifications for your actual glass.

Two films can look similarly dark and perform differently. Compare the actual product series and published measurements at a similar visible light transmission. The word ceramic alone is not a complete specification or a guarantee of a cooler cabin in every situation.
Start with visibility
Visible light transmission, or VLT, describes the amount of visible light passing through a glazing system. Lower values generally mean a darker appearance. Consider the driver's view, especially in low light, and check the installed glass-and-film result rather than choosing from a display screen.
Compare like-for-like performance
Look at total solar energy rejected and understand how any infrared figure was measured. Figures using different glass, wavelengths or test conditions are not directly comparable. Ask for the technical sheet for the exact shade being quoted, not the best number from another shade in the range.

Consider the whole ownership experience
Discuss color neutrality, reflectivity, appearance beside factory privacy glass, signal compatibility and the written warranty. Installation quality and care remain relevant whichever technology you choose. A darker film is not automatically the right answer for a South Florida daily driver.
Build a clear window-by-window quote
Specify the windows, existing tint removal and the actual film series. Confirm applicable requirements for the vehicle and glazing before installation. Motenza can discuss the finish and specification around your car; do not assume a sample or online simulator establishes the final installed result.
Before your next step
- Compare products at similar VLT.
- Request the exact shade's technical sheet.
- Specify each window and existing-film removal.
